3D printing of graphene-based polymeric nanocomposites for biomedical applications

Abstract Additive manufacturing techniques established a new paradigm in the manufacture of composite materials providing simple solution to build complex, custom designed shapes. In biomedical field, 3D printing enabled production scaffolds with patient-specific requirements, controlling product architecture and microstructure, have been proposed regenerate variety tissues such as bone, cartilage, or nervous system. Polymers reinforced graphene derivatives demonstrated potential interest for applications that require electrical mechanical properties well enhanced cell response, presenting increasing field. The present review focuses on graphene-based polymer nanocomposites developed additive fabrication, provides an overview available reach different applications, summarizes relevant results obtained printed graphene/polymer biosensors.
